| DRILLS ONCE A MONTH
Members of the Unit will meet monthly for drill exercises which may consist of physical training, classroom training, off site activities, and various community service evolutions.
Cadets typically spend the weekend from Friday evening at 1800hrs until Sunday afternoon when released at 1400hrs. The monthly Plan of the Drill announcement includes all scheduling and gear requirements and changes from drill to drill. ADVANCEMENTS: Promotions within the Sea Cadets (ages 14 to 18) are based upon merit. Cadet recruits enter as E-1's, and upon successful completion of boot camp and other academic requirements may be advanced to E-2. As Cadets receive additional training, they may advance through the rate structure, eventually attaining rate of chief petty officer (E-7). Although our training is accomplished in a naval environment, it should be noted that no future Armed Service obligation is required of any Cadet because of participation in our program. Promotions within the League Cadets (ages 11 to 13) are also based upon merit. League Cadets advancement is from E-2 to E-6. Boot camp is not a requirement, but is encouraged by the 13th birthday in order to prepare for Sea Cadets and the corresponding boot camp requirement. |
